Hansabankas profit up 21.6 per cent


Lithuania's Hansabankas earned a net profit of LTL 61 million last year, up 21.6 per cent from LTL 50.1 million in 2002.

The loan portfolio as well as leasing and factoring portfolios totaled LTL 2.434 billion by year-end after increasing by 55 per cent or LTL 265.05 million over the year.

In 2003, the bank's return on equity was 16 per cent.

According to consolidated figures released, Hansabankas earned LTL 135.8 million in net interest, 5.9 per cent more as compared with LTL 127.8 million the year before. Net commissions came to LTL 73.6 million, up 53.8 per cent against LTL 47.8 million in 2002.

The consolidated assets of Hansabankas as at 31 December 2003 stood at LTL 6 billion, a 40 per cent rise from LTL 4.3 billion the year before.
