BCR has spoken to staff at the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi in Rome, the venue for BCR’s recent international factoring conference, after receiving the news of the devastating fire that broke out there on Saturday.
Staff at the hotel told BCR that the hotel is currently closed and a decision will be made on Friday about the reopening on completion of security and safety inspections.
BCR was told that the Chief of the Fire Brigade has announced that the hotel’s security systems and procedures functioned perfectly, which were certified under rigorous international standards. This allowed the fire to be limited and prevented from spreading through the building.
Firefighters evacuated guests from the roof of the luxury hotel, where several US tour groups and tennis players were staying ahead of the Rome Open Tennis Masters Championship.
