Government to formulate programme and financing for SMEs

The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has identified new services areas to be promoted through its agencies. These areas are distributive trade; wholesale and retail; hotel; professional services and consultancy services and logistics. Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said agencies under the ministry have been given the mandate by the Cabinet to promote these sectors.

Speaking after opening a seminar on Business Coaching for SMEs in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, Rafidah said comprehensive statistics on small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will enable the government to formulate a coherent programme and financing for SMEs.
