The reluctance of some banking institutions to facilitate the use of the lines of credit made available through the Central Bank has created a major drawback for the development of small businesses in Barbados.
This observation was made by the president of the Small Business Association (SBA) Senator Sandra Husbands, who made these comments against a barrage of complaints made at a recently held Rural Development Commission’s (RDC) meeting to discuss issues that affect rural Barbados.
According to Husbands, although the government has provided various forms of funding to micro enterprises in Barbados, the financial constraints encountered by small businesses is still their number one hindrance.
