Introduction

Since its creation by law in 1946, Coface has been responsible for administering the public export credit insurance scheme on behalf of the French state. The French Ministry of Finance has delegated responsibility for the operation of medium and long term export credit insurance to Coface in order to support French exports. This support is limited to risks that are not insurable on the private market. Coface offers cover for a number of risks related to international trade and investment. The risks relate to credits of more than a three year repayment period and are usually for equipment and goods exports. These credits follow the OECD guidelines (the ‘Consensus’).
