Finnish exports up after a six-month slide


Finnish exports made an upwards turn in September after a six-month period of dormancy and decline. According to monthly figures issued by the Board of Customs, exports grew by 7 per cent year-on-year in September to a total of Ђ4,100 million.

The last time the monthly figures exceeded those of 12 months previously was in February of this year.

Imports declined by 2 per cent from September 2002 to stand at roughly Ђ3,000 million. The September 2003 balance of payments trade surplus on goods and services rose to rather more than Ђ1,100 million.
