Fall in limited company failures continues


The decline in the number of limited companies failing in the UK continued in August, according to the latest figures released by Experian®, the global business solutions company. During August 2003, company failures fell by 13 per cent compared with August 2002. This brings the total so far in 2003 to 12,085, a fall of 5.6 per cent compared with the first eight months of 2002, when 12,802 company failures were recorded.

There were 1,511 limited company failures in August 2003, compared with 1,737 in August 2002. However, there has been an increase in company failures between July and August 2003, with 43 more business failures recorded in August, than there were in July.
