Exports rise 37% in January


Turkey's exports rose 36.9 per cent year-on-year to US$4.73bn in January, the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) said.

Exports were US$3.45bn in January 2003. TIM said 85.5 per cent of exports in January were comprised of products from the manufacturing sector.

The State Statistics Institute (DIE) said recently the country's foreign trade deficit rose to US$18.3bn in the January-to-November period last year. Exports were US$42.4bn in the period, while imports reached US$60.7bn.
