Erste Bank is considering a takeover of a Polish bank with a good position in the southern parts of the country, said Erste's chief executive officer Andreas Treichl.
"We have strengthened our position in financial services for small- and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in the Czech and Slovak Republics and the southern parts of Poland are attractive for them”, he said.
Erste said earlier that Poland was not an interesting place to invest due to the large size of its otherwise fragmented market, which was an obstacle to building big market share.
