Ernst & Young comments on the Enterprise Capital Funds

The UK government's Small Business Service (SBS) is not doing enough to help small businesses or the investors willing to fund them, according to Ernst & Young.

Earlier this month, the government's Small Business Service released its draft guidance for applicants who wish to operate the pathfinder wave of Enterprise Capital Funds (ECFs).

Enterprise Capital Funds are the government's response to a Bridging the Finance Gap consultation exercise, which began in Spring 2003, and concerned an apparent 'equity gap' regarding the lack of venture capital available for investment in small and growing enterprises.
