Department for Trade and Industry brings information for SMEs onto one site

The 3.3 million small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in England will find it easier to locate and understand the rules and regulations they need to know, and to access government services available to help them.

At least, they will if a new initiative by the Department for Trade and Industry (DTI) bears fruit, as it seeks to provide a single online access point to all relevant government information and services for business. The web site, fronted by Business Link, the DTI-backed business advice service, has been launched by Trade and Industry Minister, Jacqui Smith, at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) conference.

Martin Wyn Griffith, head of Business Link, said: "Our aim at Business Link is to enable anyone who wants to set up or improve the performance of their business with easy access to the relevant information, advice funding or training available from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
