Demand for Services Continues to Strengthen

Services activity has picked up to its strongest in a year as demand continues to strengthen and future business confidence has hit a sixteen-month high.

Strengthening growth of private service sector activity levels was recorded by the CIPS/Reuters survey for March. The seasonally adjusted Business Activity Index recorded 53.8, its highest level for exactly a year, up from 52.1 in February, to signal the third consecutive month of expansion. The latest rise in service sector activity reflected an increase in the number of firms reporting an expansion in output in order to meet a further rise in demand for their services.
