Danish euro support drops

Support among Danes to adopt the European Union’s single currency has dropped after Sweden overwhelmingly rejected the euro in last Sunday’s referendum. But a clear majority is still in favour of swapping the Kroner for the common currency.

A new poll shows 51.9 per cent of Danes want to join the euro zone, down almost two points since a similar survey in early September.

The “no” side increased slightly to 39 per cent. Denmark rejected euro membership in a referendum three years ago.
