Company liquidations fall by 16 per cent

Creditors' voluntary liquidations fell by 16.6 per cent in 2003, according to Experian®, the leading business information company in Ireland. 316 creditors' liquidations were recorded in 2003 compared with 379 in 2002. "This indicator was very positive," said Liam Reddy, managing director of Experian Ireland. "However, some members of the insolvency profession confirmed that they have been extremely busy particularly in the second half of 2003 and that the insolvency statistics do not reflect the real activity that took place."
