Collapsed ad agency had been bought in by management through invoice discounting package

The High Court has appointed Jim Stafford as liquidator of collapsed agency Doherty Advertising Ltd, following a petition from Independent Newspapers Marketing.

Brian Kennedy, counsel for Independent Newspapers Marketing Ltd, told the court his client was owed Ђ642,761 for advertising in its publications.

Vincent Crowley, a director of Independent Newspapers Marketing, told the court that Doherty Advertising also owed Ђ481,904 to RTE, Ђ253,097 to the Irish Times and Ђ76,869 to Today FM.

Counsel for Doherty directors, Mark Beggs and Anthony Martin, did not oppose the petition. Solicitors Fanning and Kelly acted for Independent Newspapers in the case. Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donovan directed that a full statement of the company's affairs be made within the next three weeks and the matter will come before the court again on 20 October.
