City banker appointed chair of ECGD

Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia Hewitt has appointed banker Graham Pimlott to the new post of Chair of the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD).

The role has been designed to bring private sector experience to the business of ECGD and to contribute to the strengthening of ECGD’s corporate governance as it prepares for its future status as a Trading Fund. Mr Pimlott will join ECGD on 12 January 2004.

Announcing the appointment, Ms Hewitt said: “ECGD plays a vital role in supporting manufacturing exports. I am confident that Graham Pimlott, with his extensive background in investment and corporate banking, will play a key part in helping ECGD provide an even better service for British exporters.”
