Argentina's central bank has adopted a series of measures to facilitate small and- medium-sized enterprises (SMEs') access to retail bank lending, the central bank said in a statement.
The main pillar of the measures is to re-focus the loan subject evaluation towards the company's future payment capacity instead of its past credit history, which made it very difficult for many SMEs to access credit due to the negative effect the Argentine crisis had on their books.
The new measures will give some flexibility to the rigid rules that the central bank had in place and that is "very good for the market," Deloitte Argentina's corporate finance director Marcos Bazan told BNamericas.
Bazan added that he believes the Argentine central bank will continue to be proactive next year in finding ways to facilitate credit access.
The new credit-friendly measures will remain in place until December next year, the central bank said.
