Cenbank looks to up SME credit

Re-establishing credit for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be one of the main objectives of Argentina's central bank president Martin Redrado.

Speaking before the budget and treasury committee in Argentina's lower house of congress, he said the bank is studying ways to loosen the regulations and increase and facilitate access to credit for SMEs, the main generators of jobs.

Techniques to be used to increase credit access include giving priority to a borrower's ability to pay back the loan and business plan development instead of demanding assets as collateral, Redrado added.
