Large companies were a little more cautious about their economic outlook in June, but SMEs remained optimistic, according to a survey prepared by economic research institute Ecostat. Although both large and small firms regard general prospects favourable, the proportion of those planning new investments fell from May.
Ecostat said the June SME business confidence index was 52%, up from 50.3% a month before and from 47.6% in June 2003.
The Top-100 business confidence index was 54% in June, down from 57% a month before but still up from 53% in the same month last year.
The survey showed that 35% of SMEs were optimistic about their outlook, while 44% were expecting no changes.
