Brunei keen to invest more in Philippines, SMEs to benefit

Brunei is keen to invest more in the Philippines, as a means to further develop the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asian Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).

Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye said this was signified during the visit of Sultan Hadji Hassanal Bolkiah to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in their meeting in Malacanang. The Brunei Sultan is in the country for a four-day visit.

"There was interest, of course, to further develop the BIMP-EAGA region. But the discussions on this were not very detailed," Bunye said. In a joint statement issued after their talks, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to facilitate the revitalization of the BIMP-EAGA.
