The UK’s exporters are still far from embracing the e-commerce challenge according to the latest research from Bibby Financial Services. A new survey from the company shows that 40% of respondents never use the Internet to sell their goods.
When asked what deterred them from using E-commerce respondents cited a lack of E-commerce strategy as their major deterrent (45%). This was followed by legal concerns mentioned by a third (36%) of those surveyed and a lack of knowledge (27%).
However, the situation has improved slightly over the past 12 months. Results of a similar survey undertaken in the year 2000 show that the percentage of firms avoiding E-commerce has fallen by 10%.
The number of exporters using the Internet a lot has also increased slightly, from 4% in 2000 to 8% in 2001.
