Banks reject SME lending rule changes


Banks are opposing the passage of a proposed law that seeks to shore up the mandatory allocation of funds to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with lenders warning of a possible bloat in bad loans at levels reminiscent of the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
