Colombia's state-owned export development bank Banco de Comercio Exterior de Colombia (Bancуldex) issued loans totalling 502bn pesos (US$191m) to the country's corporate sector in the first quarter of this year.
Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) received 151bn pesos of Bancуldex's total loan portfolio in 1Q 2004 with micro-businesses receiving 59.4bn pesos in credit.
Colombia's agriculture, paper manufacturing and printing industries proved the greatest recipients of the bank's loans in 1Q 2004.
Bancуldex conducted a total of 8,656 lending operations to the country's corporate sector during the first three months of this year.
