Mexico's financial leasing companies are in for a good year in 2004 irrespective of whether congress approves fiscal and energy sector reforms, El Financiero reported.
"One has to plan in an uncertain environment in Mexico. We know that in 2004 the equipment of Mexican companies will be a priority," said Jose Alfredo Chacon, chairman of the leasing association Amaf.
Amaf will work with small business development bank Nacional Financiera on a programme to make it cheaper for companies to replace and update their equipment, the report said. The association also wants to act as a financial intermediary for funding from rural development trust Fira.
