According to Estrategia, Chile's financial daily, Banco del Desarrollo is looking to up its loan portfolio 10% this year backed by forecasted growth across the credit board.
Backed by confident operating forecasts for this year, Desarrollo chairman Vicente Caruz said Desarrollo's board will discuss a proposed capital injection of 8.7bn pesos (US$14.1m) at its next scheduled meeting.
The bank's personal credit portfolio as well as loans to large companies are expected to witness the fastest growth this year at 17%, followed by lending to the construction industry (15%), medium-sized company loans (11%) and small- sized company loans (9%). Desarrollo has targeted a 4% stake in the banking market by end-2004, up from its current 3.82% share. It also aims to grow its client base to 308,000 from 265,134 today, Caruz added.
