ADB to improve SME finance regulations

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is attempting to boost cross-border trade amongst small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in Asia, by funding a study of market and finance barriers that could help pave the way for an increase in trade and a reduction in poverty in poor border areas.  ADB is providing a $1.5 million technical assistance grant, sourced from the Regional Cooperation and Integration Financing Partnership Facility, which will be used to recommend policy and regulatory changes which are needed to improve SME traders’ access to finance and to carry out a survey of financiers, border traders, and border posts.
