The Factoring Sector After the Crisis – an Update


Feyza Guleryuz, Toprak Factoring  The crises of November 2000 and February 2001 have caused enormous damage both to financial institutions and real sector. These crises have had a significant impact on the Turkish factoring industry, but there are hopes that a raft of banking sector reforms in the wake of the crises, together with changes in the regulations governing the foundation and operation of factoring companies, will make things easier for surviving industry players to stay afloat.  However, the application of a new economic program, the easygoing summer months and the decreasing prices of agricultural goods all contributed to a deceleration of June’s inflation rate. It is expected that the trend will continue into September.
